Who He?
Daren Callow is the singer, songwriter and guitarist with Dare To Be Charlie an exciting musical duo where he performs alongside fellow singer-songwriter Charlie Savigar. Daren has also sung and played guitar in Charlie Savigar's own contemporary country rock band.
Recently he also became part of the Alan Reed band (Alan Reed and the Daughters of Expediency) performing Alan's own solo material and songs by his previous band - Pallas.
In total his work in bands and as a solo artist covers over 25 years and he has shared the stage with such acts as Travis, The Specials, Gang Of Four, Half Man Half Biscuit, Gene, David Devant & His Spirit Wife and Comsat Angels. Live appearances have included the Edinburgh Fringe, Greenbelt, Rockfield, Winter's End, HRH Prog and Crossfire festivals and countless shows in London and the UK and as far afield as Illinois & Nashville USA, Göttingen in Germany, Santiago in Chile and the Cultuurpodium Boerderij in Zoetermeer NL.
He was taught the basics of studio recording by the legendary Andy Hewitt of 2nd Sense Studios back in the days of tape and timecode. Since then he's recorded and mixed tracks for Radio Cracker, demos for many bands and studio recordings for acts including Stars In Exile, Daniel Lehan and Charlie Savigar.
As a roadie he has toured the UK, Europe, Canada and USA with acts including The Pet Shop Boys, Katie Melua and Russell Watson.
He is also a writer and voice actor, having self-published a collection of Steampunk Sci-fi short stories - Tales Of New Albion - which is now available to buy from Amazon as a Kindle download or paperback. He also records Steampunk Podcast which is available on Soundcloud, iTunes, Stitcher and Overcast, and has written and performed audio dramas for Brighton Theatre of The Air and 2 Bit Productions.
